Amethyst Blooms

After a long winter, I tend to start painting flowers.  I think it's a kind of hope welling up inside of me - hope for warmth, for more light and longer days, and hope for new life.  This painting brought me so much 'new life' in the process.  I tried new things, pushed my abilities and pushed the ink to do new things.  I'm thrilled with how it turned out.  It's so much better in person.

Amethyst Blooms is an original alcohol ink painting done in 2021 by Penny Gabor.  It is 20x30" and is mounted to a birch panel and finished with a glossy resin.  It's stunning!  The painting has been sealed with a varnish and UV protectant (although you should never put alcohol inks in the sun as they are extremely delicate).
