I was out walking my dog early one autumn morning when I happened upon a young maple tree. It was slender and tall, and full of green leaves. As I looked up, I saw pops of the most brilliant reds! I thought it so strange that the tree would have occasional branches whose leaves had turned such intense reds while most of the tree remained so summery green. It just demanded a response :)
First Reds was painted in 2020 and is an 8x10" alcohol ink original mounted on a birch panel. It is sealed with a varnish and UV protectant, (but alcohol inks should never be placed in direct sunlight).
